Wind energy in Argentina: Nordex wind turbines for a wind farm

The Nordex Group has added a further chapter to its success story in Argentina with an order for 26 N131/3900 turbines for the “Pomona” wind farm. The contract will be executed on a full EPC basis, including civil and electrical engineering, procurement, construction and manufacturing, delivery and installation of the wind turbines. Preparations for construction will be commencing in 2017, after which the wind power systems will be installed in the beginning of 2019. In addition, a ten-year full operation and maintenance contract has also been signed.

The customer is Independent Power Producer Genneia, which has significant experience thanks to numerous projects in Argentina. The wind farm will be installed in Pomona, Rio Negro, where mean wind speeds of 8.6 m/s are measured. With a tower height of 120 metres, the turbines will be able to make optimum use of these winds.

Additional to Pomona, Nordex has previously received two contracts for a combined 148 MW under the firsts Argentinean tender in early 2017. The new order comes from the RenovAr 1.5 tender, awarded to the client in November 2016.

The Group has installed wind power capacity of around 21 GW in over 25 markets, generating sales of EUR 3.4 billion in 2016. It currently has more than 5,000 employees. The production network comprises plants in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States and India. The product range primarily concentrates on onshore turbines in the 1.5 – 4.5 MW class addressing the requirements of a wide range of markets.
