Russia approves 16 wind power projects

The wind farms will be built in each region of the country. In case of the Southern Federal District, five large wind power projects are planned.

Among these are the 100MW Astrakhan wind farm and the 999MW Volgograd Lower Volga project, both of which are expected to be commissioned by 2030.

Two wind farms are also planned in the Kalmykia Republic of Russia, which will have the capacity of 150MW and 300MW and will be launched by 2025.

A further two wind energy projects, dubbed Lodeyny and Kolsky, will be built in the Murmansk region and will have a capacity of 300 MW and 500 MW respectively.

Finally, a 300MW project is planned for Ust-Luga, St. Petersburg region and a 200MW wind farm is to bebuilt in the Kaliningrad region.
