Wind energy in Jordan: 117 megawatt wind farm to be established in Tafileh

Energy Minister Mohammad Hamed on Monday signed agreements for the establishment of a 117 megawatt (MW) wind farm, which will be built by the local Jordan Wind Power Company at a total investment of JD205 million.

Hamed said the scheme, the first to be established in Tafileh Governorate, is expected to generate 400MW of electricity per year when it comes online by mid-2015.

The wind power project, which will provide 200 job opportunities while in the pipeline, entails installing 38 wind turbines.
