Nick Clegg opens Skegness offshore wind farm

Centrica Energy’s Lincolnshire offshore wind farm has been officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

The 75 wind turbines are capable of producing enough energy for 200,000 homes. Speaking at the opening ceremony, at the firm’s base in Grimsby, Mr Clegg said the government was looking to attract inward investment in the UK’s offshore generation industry.

Mr Clegg and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Davey were shown round the new Centrica Energy Lincs site in Grimsby.
