NALCO commissions wind farm in Rajastha

NALCO has commissioned its second wind power project in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district.
The Bhubaneswar headquartered aluminium producer, which has been foraying into other metals and energy sectors, had earlier commissioned its first wind power plant of 50.4 megawatts capacity at a cost of Rs.274 crore at Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district last December.
The wind farm in Rajasthan is being executed through Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Ltd, which involves erection of 56 wind turbines. The Rs.283 crore-project would have a generation capacity of 47.6 megawatts.

One part of the project has been commissioned successfully and power production has commenced from 18 wind energy generators, the company said in a statement. The plant is scheduled to commence full production by August 2013, it said.
