NB Power promoting use of electric vehicles

NB Power has launched a project to evaluate the suitability of electric vehicles and charger technologies in the province.

The project will look at how the vehicles work in New Brunswick’s geography and climate.

President Gaetan Thomas says the utility has added five electric vehicles along with charging facilities in Fredericton, Moncton and Bouctouche.

The program will include education and a fleet review service to help municipalities and organizations decide if there is a business case for them to add electric vehicles.

So far, Fredericton, Moncton, Bathurst, Quispamsis and Rothesay have asked for fleet reviews.

NB Power estimates that New Brunswick could see up to 6,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2020.
