Four leading industry figures to chair tracks at EWEA OFFSHORE 2013

This year’s conference programme at EWEA OFFSHORE 2013 (19 – 21 November) is divided along four thematic tracks – Markets, strategies & planning; Finance; Future technologies and Industrialising the supply chain. EWEA has confirmed four leading industry figures to oversee the development of each track, ensuring a rich and comprehensive programme.

The Track Chairs bring an enormous wealth of experience to the conference and will assist the Lead Session Chairs in identifying speakers once the call for abstracts closes on 19 May.

Overseeing the ‘Finance’ track is Dima Rifai, CEO of Paradigm Change Capital Partners. Dima has many years’ experience in advising institutional investors, increasing their knowledge of, and allocation to, low carbon assets. Having worked in several top-tier investment banks, Dima has ample experience to develop conference sessions addressing the critical issue of financing offshore wind development.

Andrew Jamieson, CEO of Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, will chair the track ‘Industrialising the supply chain’. Andrew has been a key figure in the renewable energy business in the UK for many years, and is Chairman of RenewableUK as well as a former Chairman of Scottish Renewables. Andrew was recently tasked to chair an industry/government Cost Reduction Task Force  to ensure offshore wind energy can hit cost targets by 2020. Cost reduction is a key issue for offshore wind industry, ensuring Andrew’s input is timely and important.

Jesper Møller, Head of Offshore Technologies at Siemens Wind Power will chair the track on ‘Future technologies’. Jesper’s role at Siemens could not be better suited to the content of this track. Working in the Technology & Innovation area, he is responsible for future oriented technologies that will be deployed in tomorrow’s offshore wind farms.

As Director of REpower’s Offshore Business Unit, Norbert Giese can draw on decades of experience. He was co-founder of the first German Wind Cooperative in 1988 and has been a key player in the wind industry ever since. Having spent six years as chairman of the German wind turbine manufacturers’ association, VDMA, Norbert has the high-level view of business and policy developments needed to chair the track ‘Markets, strategies & planning’.

Together, the Track Chairs will assist EWEA in developing a conference programme that provides the best content for conference delegates. The offshore wind industry has enormous potential, but there remain challenges to be overcome. OFFSHORE 2013 will provide real learning opportunities, practical solutions and informative discussions to delegates, enabling our industry to continue to grow and develop.

If you would like the opportunity to present your work at the world’s largest offshore wind energy conference and exhibition, there is still time to submit an abstract before the deadline of Sunday 19 May.
