Vestas’ first V126-3.0 MW wind turbines sold to customer in Finland

Just six weeks after being launched to the market, Vestas is proud to announce that the first order for three V126-3.0 MW turbines has been placed by TuuliWatti Oy in Finland.

Vestas is excited to be able to so quickly sign the first order for the V126-3.0 MW turbines,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe.

The V126-3.0 MW is built on the proven technology of the 3 MW platform. The turbine’s rotor swept area has been increased by 27 per cent compared with the V112-3.0 MW and is specially designed to yield maximum power production on low wind sites.

With the introduction of the V126-3.0 MW, Vestas has taken another step forward, creating a better business case for our customers, and we are proud to take this step with TuuliWatti Oy,” says Krister Poole Jönsson, VP Sales, Vestas Northern Europe.

Just six weeks after being launched to the market, Vestas has received its first order for three V126-3.0 MW for Finland.

TuuliWatti Oy, a key customer and frontrunner in Finland, has an established track record of purchasing Vestas 3 MW turbines, with one wind power plant in operation and two more being installed. Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines and a six-year full-scope active output management agreement AOM 5000.

Finland is no longer a beginner in wind power. Rather, we are at the forefront of development. TuuliWatti has worked systematically to increase the use of wind power, and we are constantly looking for the best and most advanced technologies for our projects. The latest technology, such as the new Vestas turbines, enables the construction of more cost-effective wind farms, which take local residents and environmental viewpoints into account”, says Jari Suominen, Managing Director of TuuliWatti Oy.

TuuliWatti Oy is a Finnish joint venture by energy company St1 Oy and retail cooperative S-Group. The company was established in 2009 and it aims to develop and construct significant onshore wind power capacity in Finland in the coming years. Please visit www.tuuliwatti.fi.

Every single day, Vestas wind turbines deliver clean energy that supports the global fight against climate change. Wind power from Vestas’ more than 47,000 wind turbines currently reduces carbon emissions by approximately 55 million tons of CO2 every year, while at the same time building energy security and independence.

Today, Vestas has delivered wind energy in more than 70 countries, providing jobs for around 20,000 passionate people at our service and project sites, research facilities, factories and offices all over the world. With 65 per cent more megawatts installed than our closest competitor and more than 51 GW of cumulative installed capacity worldwide, Vestas is the world leader in wind energy.
