DONG Energy appoints two new Executive Vice Presidents

DONG Energy has appointed two new Executive Vice Presidents in the business areas Wind Power and Energy Markets.

Samuel Leupold, 42, has been appointed as new Executive Vice President of the business area Wind Power. He will be taking over from Henrik Poulsen, who, since his appointment as CEO of DONG Energy, has also been Executive Vice President of Wind Power.

Samuel Leupold is Swiss and comes from the position as Executive Vice President with the Swiss energy company BKW FMB Energie. He is a qualified engineer and holds an MBA from INSEAD in France. He has previously worked for Bühler, McKinsey and ABB Power Generation. He will take up his new post on 4 March 2013.

Henrik Poulsen says of the appointment of Samuel Leupold as new Executive Vice President of Wind Power:

“I am absolutely delighted that Samuel Leupold will be joining the team. With his extensive leadership experience from the energy sector, including especially in the management of large energy projects, he has the ideal credentials to head the continued development of our market-leading position in offshore wind.”

There will also be a change in the management of the business area Energy Markets. Henrik Poulsen says:

“We are faced with the major task of having to enhance Energy Markets’ earnings and develop its business. In that connection we want Energy Markets to be headed by a new team. Kurt Bligaard Pedersen, Executive Vice President, is therefore leaving DONG Energy by mutual agreement. I would like to thank Kurt for his significant contributions in DONG Energy and wish him good luck in the future.”

Morten Hultberg Buchgreitz, 45, has been appointed as new Executive Vice President of Energy Markets. He comes from the position as Senior Vice President of Group Treasury & Risk Management in DONG Energy. He has also been filling the role as Acting Executive Vice President of Wind Power since March 2012. He will take up his new post on 4 March 2013.

Carsten Krogsgaard Thomsen, Group CFO, will also be taking on the role of Executive Vice President of Energy Markets on a temporary basis from today and until 4 March 2013.

Henrik Poulsen says of the appointment of Morten H. Buchgreitz as new Executive Vice President of Energy Markets:

“Both as head of Group Treasury & Risk Management and during his time as day-to-day head of Wind Power, Morten H. Buchgreitz has demonstrated that he has the skills we require in our work on developing Energy Markets. He knows DONG Energy inside out, he is a competent leader, and he has extensive insight into market conditions. His appointment to DONG Energy’s Group Executive Management is a well-deserved recognition of his contribution so far to the company’s development.”

The information provided in this announcement does not change DONG Energy’s previous financial guidance for the 2012 financial year or the announced expected investment level.
