Reliance Power to invest more than Rs 6,000 crore for solar power generation projects in Rajasthan

Reliance Power plans to invest more than Rs 6,000 crore for solar power generation projects in Rajasthan in the next two years, its chairman Anil Ambani said. Ambani group firm commissioned a 40 MW photovoltaic solar power plant in Rajasthan with an investment of about R700 crore, which is the country’s largest solar energy project so far. The company also plans to commission 100 MW concentrating solar thermal power plant by the next year.

The total 140 MW (40 MW photovoltaic commissioned and 100 MW concentrated solar thermal to be commissioned in 2013) plant plan involves investment of Rs 3,000 crore.

“We plan to construct 300 MW in the next 24 months, which would double our investment at this location to exceed R6,000 crore,” Ambani said after the commissioning 40MW plant.

“Reliance Power has infused the entire equity into the project, the debt has been provided by the US Exim Bank and the Asian Development Bank,” said Ambani.
