Wind energy in Brazil: CPFL buys wind power Bons Ventos

Brazil’s renewable energy company CPFL Energias Renovaveis S/A has signed a deal to buy 100% of local wind power generator Bons Ventos Geradora de Energia S/A for R$ 1.062 billion ($621 million), including R$ 462 million in debt, CPFL said late Friday in a statement.

Bons Ventos owns four wind farm plants with a combined wind power capacity of 157.5 megawatts, all based in the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará. With the purchase, CPFL will boost its own capacity to 809,5 MW, the company said.
