Geothermal Energy Concession In Chile

The company is currently undertaking preparations for geological and geophysical surveys, it said in a statement to the stock exchange, confirming a news report in Inquirer.net.

According to the report, the concession will allow EDC to develop the Newen area, drill wells where it can draw steam, and later build a geothermal facility should reserves in the area be proven economically viable.

The company also said it has not yet signed a definitive agreement with Hot Rock Ltd. of Australia relating to a planned acquisition of a 70% interest in four geothermal energy concession areas in Peru and Chile.
