China sees wind energy rise 48.16% last year

China saw its wind power generation in 2011 hit 73.2 TWh, a jump of 48.16% on-year, according to figures released by China Electricity Council.

The proportion of wind farm generation in China’s general power output was up 0.38% in 2011 compared with 2010.

China installed 15.85 GW of wind turbines capacity in 2011. Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu Province in Northwestern China installed more than 3 GW each. The country invested RMB 82.9 billion in wind power generation projects in 2011.
