Brazil bank to finance wind energy plants

Brazil’s National Development Bank says it will put up close to $1 million to help finance the construction of 26 wind power plants.

The bank says in a statement posted on its website it approved 1.8 billion reals ($963,000) in funding to build 26 wind farm plants in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte.

The bank says a total of 2.6 billion reals will be invested in the wind energy parks that will have an installed power generating capacity of 629 megawatts. The new funds bring to 3.3 billion reals ($1.6 billion) the bank’s financing of wind turbines projects this year.
