Wind energy in Italy: Iberdrola opened a wind farm in Sicily

Iberdrola launches a wind farm of 64.6 MW in the province of Messina, in northeastern Sicily (Italy). This wind farm is one of the largest in Italy and consists of 76 wind turbines of Gamesa model G52. Its launch has generated about 350 jobs to the area.
 
The company has developed this wind power project in partnership (50%) with the Italian company Nova Energy API, part of Grupo Empresarial API, and thanks to its entry into operation has increased its power in the country up to 102 MW.

Iberdrola in Europe has more than 8,000 MW from renewables, having become the leader in wind power in Spain, UK, Greece and Hungary. With this power supply prevent the emission into the atmosphere of about 14 million tons of CO2.

The company now has renewable energy facilities in 10 European countries: Spain (5862 MW), United Kingdom (1,002 MW), France (293 MW), Greece (261 MW), Poland (184 MW), Hungary (158 MW) , Italy (102 MW), Portugal (92 MW), Germany (63 MW) and Cyprus (20 MW).

Iberdrola has been awarded by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy with the award for best Spanish company in Italy 2011, "for his activity in the field of renewable energy promotion in this country."

The charge of collecting this award was the ‘country manager’ of Iberdrola in Italy, Valerio Faccenda, who has received the award from Spain’s consul general in Milan, Emilio Fernandez-Castano, during a ceremony held at the Hotel Four Seasons in Milan.

With this award, the Chamber of Commerce has sought to distinguish "the values, the rigor and effort, dynamic and expert" to the Spanish company has brought to Italy, his collaboration with companies in the country and its contribution to the positive perception Italian Spanish entrepreneurship.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy is a non-profit association, founded in Milan in 1953 by Spanish and Italian entrepreneurs, whose primary mission is to promote trade relations between both countries.
