New Canadian Wind Farm Completed

Wind energy in Canada – Wind farm completed. Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc. (RES Canada) completed the 99 MW Greenwich Wind Power Project, located on the northern shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, with 43 Siemens wind turbines.

The project is a limited partnership jointly owned by Enbridge and RES Canada. RES Canada developed and built the project that includes 43 Siemens (NYSE: SI) SWT-2.3-101 MW wind turbines. Both companies invested $275 million into it.

The Ontario Power Authority signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for the output from the project.

Greenwich is the second wind project to be developed and constructed by RES Canada. The 99 MW Talbot wind project was completed in December 2010.
