Sri Lanka wind farm buys more Indian wind turbines

Suzlon had earlier sold wind turbines of 10 MW to Senok which has built a wind farm in Puttalam in North Western Sri Lanka. "This new order underlines Senok Group’s strategic focus on wind energy," a Suzlon statement quoted Senok chairman Noel Selvanayagam as saying.

The new 21 MW wind energy project will come up alongside the existing wind farm. "This repeat order underlines Suzlon’s strong value proposition – offering expertise and flexible solutions – from concept to commissioning…," Tulsi R Tanti, C nanaging director, Suzlon Group said.

Sri Lanka used to approve wind farms up to 10MW on a standard power purchase agreement, but a recent decision by the power ministry said larger plants were encouraged as they were more cost-effective and plug-and-play wind energy parks would be set up for investors.
