Egypt and Renewable Energy

Many Egyptian and international experts believe that Egypt’s future lies in developing the renewable energy. The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in Canada affirmed that wind resources in Egypt are the best in the world and that there is a sufficient land available for establishing a project for wind power production at low cost.

The IISD said that Egypt has the conditions needed for starting the production of wind turbines in a wide scale as Egypt has the knowledge, developed infrastructure and experience in the field of generating wind farm energy.

Moreover, Egypt enjoys shinning sun for more than ten months in the year which enables it to save solar energy up to 5% of the electricity consumed in Egypt.

The Egyptian government is keen on making use of resources of the alternative energy in a bid to face the growing demand rates on energy and to make up for the huge gap between production cost and the price of services extended to consumers.
