Bechtel Recognized for Excellence in Concentrated Solar Energy Industry

Bechtel has been named EPC Contractor of 2011 by CSP Today, a leading information organization focused on the concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) industry. The award recognizes Bechtel’s leadership in the Concentrating Solar Power industry and its role as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the Ivanpah project—a 392MW solar thermal plant under construction in California’s Mojave Desert.

“Ivanpah is the most significant Concentrating Solar Power project ever undertaken, and it has fostered the imagination and innovative thinking of many at Bechtel,” said Ian Copeland, president of Bechtel’s Renewable Power business. “We are proud to be building Ivanpah for NRG and BrightSource and are humbled by the recognition from our peers in the CSP industry.”

In addition to its work on Ivanpah, Bechtel’s expertise in the renewable power industry is evident in an array of projects including the Solar Two CSP solar power plant and the Kerman Photovoltaic solar facility.

Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, procurement, and construction companies in the world. With a legacy spanning more than a century, the reliability of Bechtel’s performance, the enduring quality of its projects, the strength of its ethics, and the seriousness of its commitment to safety and sustainability, are evident in everything it does. Today, Bechtel stands apart for its ability to get the job done right- no matter how big, how complex, or how remote.
