Johnson Controls Supplies Electric Vehicles Batteries and Buys Ford Electric Cars

The Ford electric vehicles will be used in the service fleet of Johnson Controls Building Efficiency Division. The van’s drivetrain, made by Azure Dynamics, is powered by a lithium-ion battery made by Johnson Controls–Saft, a joint venture between Johnson Controls and Saft, a manufacturer of high-tech batteries.

FexEx has launched its sustainability program, Earth Smart, in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa. The Earth Smart initiative includes the use of new airplanes that cut emissions by 18 percent and use 18 percent less fuel, all-electric delivery vehicles, and an automated shipping tool that reduces the need to print and sign multiple copies of documents. FedEx has also donated a tree in honor of each of its employees across the region. 16,000 trees will be donated in a program organized in collaboration with Plant-for-the-Planet.
