EWEA 2011 will debate Europe?s energy policy vacuum after 2020

This looming energy policy vacuum will be the focus of top level discussions at Europe’s largest wind power conference and exhibition. Hosted by the European Wind Energy Association, the conference and exhibition held in Brussels from 14-17 March will feature 200 top speakers, live debates, high-quality sessions covering a variety of topics and 300 specialist presentations.

More than 7,000 visitors and over 400 exhibitors are expected at the event, which is spread out over 13,000 square metres, making it EWEA’s largest exhibition ever.

The four-day event will see CEOs and EU policy makers mingling with wind power engineers, technicians, manufacturers, electricity leaders, bankers, economists, developers, environmentalists and journalists.

They’ll be discussing different aspects of the European wind energy sector — which increased its share of installed power capacity to 84,074 MW in 2010, a growth of 12% on the previous year — and how it continues to prove itself capable of supplying increasing amounts of affordable, local green electricity.

Since the conference offers something for everyone, the various conversations could include, among other subjects, the importance of legislation, regulations, budgets, supply chains and construction methods to wind power, Europe’s number one renewable energy source.

In addition to all the networking and workshops, a number of social events are also planned for those who have travelled far and wide to attend the event.

Europe is at a crossroads in terms of energy supply, the economy and the environment. European Wind Energy Association 2011 promises to showcase how the onshore and offshore wind power sector is playing an increasingly significant role in addressing these major problems.

Online registration for the event closes on 8 March.
