Wind energy Vestas receives 44 MW order in England

Vestas has received an order from E.ON Climate and Renewables UK for delivery of 22 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine. The order has a total capacity of 44 MW and the wind turbines will be installed in Tween Bridge Moor wind farm in Doncaster, England. Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to be completed in February 2012. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system and a 5-year service agreement.

“This new wind energy contract in the UK is a very important step for Vestas in further developing our leading position in one of the largest wind power markets,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe.

“E.ON is one of the most experienced players in the energy sector and we are happy to contribute in fulfilling their targets of clean and sustainable wind power energy. The V90-2.0 MW wind turbine model is designed for low and medium wind speeds, which is perfect for the area of Tween Bridge Moor. This project will create many job opportunities during construction as well as long-term positions to be filled for maintenance of the wind farm.”

“We are delighted to be using Vestas machines on our Tween Bridge wind farm which, once complete, will be our largest operational wind farm in England. We currently have 11 wind farms in our operational portfolio which use Vestas turbines and this contract continues the close working relationship we have with them,” says Martin Roberts, Construction Team Manager, E.ON Climate & Renewables UK.
