Farmers sign up for wind energy plant in Missouri

Iberdrola Renewables, which operates 46 generating wind power plants in the country, met with 37 farmers and other residents in the Jasper area on Wednesday to update them on the proposal’s progress.

The company says it is conducting tests that could lead to a $270 million wind farm east of Jasper.

Project leader Jeffrey Reinkemeyer says the company is about one year into what could be a five-year process before any construction begins.

He told the Carthage Press that the current plan is for a wind farm capable of generating 150 megawatts of electricity, which could power about 40,000 homes.
