Airbiquity, a global leader in wireless connected vehicle services, today announced the company’s selection to serve as systems integrator, providing connected vehicle services and infrastructure to Ford Motor Company’s electric vehicle (EV) programs.

“Ford continually leads the auto industry in providing cutting-edge connected vehicle options, and Airbiquity is delighted to be selected again for another of Ford’s programs”

Ford’s selection of Airbiquity underscores the capabilities of Airbiquity’s Green Vehicle solutions, creating connected vehicle services for environmental sustainability. Airbiquity’s Green Vehicle solutions integrate seamlessly with an automaker’s back office systems, offering a scalable and flexible platform – an important criteria in a relatively young market with rapidly evolving requirements.

According to the December 2010 report, “The Electric Vehicle Study,” by Zpryme, a research-based advisory firm in Austin, Texas, more than one-third of North American consumers indicated they would consider an electric vehicle in their purchase consideration, and were more inclined to incorporate technology into their driving experience.

“Ford continually leads the auto industry in providing cutting-edge connected vehicle options, and Airbiquity is delighted to be selected again for another of Ford’s programs,” said Kamyar Moinzadeh, president and CEO, Airbiquity. “Information and communications technology is becoming essential for new vehicle introduction. This further validates the strength and versatility of our global, connected vehicle solutions.”

Electric vehicles are one part of the automotive industry’s broader strategy to offer a wide range of environmentally friendly, advanced technology solutions to improve fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions affordably for customers around the world.
