Wind power Gamesa takes part in Europe?s Healthy Workplaces campaign 2010-2011

Gamesa has enrolled in the Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2010-2011. Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of maintenance in European workplaces, and of the risks if it is not carried out properly.

The initiative, coordinated by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and its partners across the 27 EU member state, revolves around a wide range of activities at both the European and national level that promote safe maintenance and encourage the engagement of business owners, workers and their representatives.

The campaign’s partners include over 30 European companies and associations from the public and private sectors, including Gamesa, The European Safety Federation, Delphi, General Electric Energy, Baxter, Toyota and Pirelli & C SpA. The initiative also enjoys the backing of the Spanish and Belgian European Presidencies in 2010 and the Hungarian and Polish presidencies 2011, as well as the support of the European Parliament, the European Commission and Europe’s social agents.

The campaign, which has been held every year for the past decade, will run through 2010 and 2011. Key dates include the Good Practice Awards event designed to identify best practice in safe maintenance. Also important are the annual European Week for Safety and Health at Work to be held in October of both years, as well as a number of conferences, seminars and training sessions for workers, business owners and other stakeholders engaged in workplace maintenance.

Gamesa will be actively involved in the campaign, hosting a range of training and awareness-raising events through proprietary communications initiatives across Europe.
