Invenergy?s Grand Ridge Expansion Project Placed in Service in Illinois

Together with the first phase of the wind energy project, which was placed in service in October, 2008, the Grand Ridge facility is now capable of generating 210 MW of electrical energy, enough power for about 70,000 homes.

The Grand Ridge expansion is selling 100.5 MW of its output under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Appalachian Power Company, a subsidiary of American Electric Power. The expansion project was constructed by Gemma Renewable Power, LLC and its major equipment is 74 General Electric 1.5MW SLE wind turbines. The Grand Ridge expansion represents the 17th wind farm developed by Invenergy that utilizes GE wind turbines.
