The wind power installed capacity increased by 727 MW in the first half of the year in Spain, reaching 19,876 MW on 30 June, according to the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE).
1,200 MW of wind energy installed in 2009 operating in seventeen countries. U.S. accumulates more than 40% of the wind farm capacity installed outside Spain.
The agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Spanish Wind Energy Association affect the wind power sector, but less than expected. Premiums for wind farm are small in Spain and below the European average.
Spain has agreed with renewable energy associations to cut subsidies which have made the country leading producer of solar and wind power.
"Spain is very experienced in wind energy, and Spanish companies want to invest in other countries," said Alberto Ceña, the technical director of the Spanish Wind Energy Association, or AEE.

2009 was one of the best years for wind power in Spain with 2,459 MW of new capacity added to the grid, second only to the record year of 2007, when 3,515 MW were added.
Last year 2009 saw one of the largest annual increases on the installation of wind farms with 2,459 MW of new capacity (only behind 2007 with 3,515 MW) which reaches accumulated power of 19,149 MW at the start of 2010.
