Jose Donoso reelected President of the Spanish Wind Energy Association

José Donoso, currently Director of Sector Development of GAMESA Technology Corporation, was unanimously reelected President of the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) at the association´s Board meeting on Wednesday 27, as proposed by the Standing Commission.

He will continue in office for another two years. The companies represented in these AEE bodies highlight the important work done since February 2008 during his first term, in a difficult time for the industry, especially since the adoption last May of the RDL 6 / 2009 which created the Register of Pre-Assignment that has crippled the wind energy industry.

The reelected President, as well as thanking the members of the Board for their confidence, said after his reelection that the next two years are going to be decisive for the future of this industry since the current situation will have to be addressed to lay the groundwork for future development with the new Renewable Energy Plan and the new remuneration framework that the industry is claiming.

Jose Donoso, an economist, has experience of over twenty years in the renewable energy sector in which he began working in 1987 as the Director of International Department at the IDAE. In 2001, he joined GAMESA as Director of Europe Business Unit. From 2006 until late 2008 he was responsible for the management, planning and control of the development of wind farms worldwide. Currently, he holds the position of Director of Sector Development at GAMESA.

The wind energy industry installed 2459 megawatts (MW) of new wind farms in Spain during 2009, but this year will reduce this figure to 1,000 MW, which will be the lower since 2000, according to AEE. The wind power inscribed in 2009 in Spain amounted to 19,149 MW of wind capacity.

The business association headed by Jose Donoso said that the increase in installed capacity of 2009 is the second largest to date, behind only the 3519 MW of 2007, but specifies that the new 2459 MW, there is 800 MW which were manufactured in 2007 and 1,300 MW in 2008.
