Mitsubishi buys into 396 MW Mexico wind energy project

Wind energy in Mexico: Mitsubishi acquires wind power project. Renewable Marena, the largest wind farm in Latin America, will install 132 wind turbines in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca state.

Mitsubishi will acquire a stake of 34 percent in a wind energy project in Mexico of 1,000 million with a total capacity of 396 megawatts.

Renewable Marena, the largest wind farm in Latin America, will install 132 wind turbines in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca state. Operations will begin in July 2013.

Mitsubishi will work with partners Macquarie Infrastructure Fund Mexico and the Dutch pension fund PGGM.

Energy production will be provided to a Mexican unit of Dutch brewer Heineken NV and FEMSA Mexican firm under a 20-year contract
