Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to address attendees at AWEA Fall Symposium

The wind power industry’s premier thought leadership and networking event comes to Southern California from November 2-4 as the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Fall Symposiumhits Carlsbad, Calif. Indicative of that high-level, thought-leadership atmosphere, the exclusive event features educational sessions, networking receptions, and a special keynote address from Apple co-founder Steve "Woz" Wozniak.

This year’s event will focus heavily on industry trends and innovations, as well as communications techniques for addressing wind energy’s benefits to external audiences. Notable participants include Program Chair Edward Zaelke from the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP; Steve Trenholm, CEO, E.ON Climate & Renewables North America; and Randy Mann, Vice President, Wind Development, Edison Mission Energy.

"Now more than ever, wind turbines industry leaders and communicators must stress the importance of wind farm in America’s energy portfolio," said AWEA CEO Denise Bode. "Wind’s importance to America’s energy supply cannot be overstated, but yet we still lack a stable, long-term federal policy that would allow the industry to flourish in the U.S., creating tens of thousands of jobs and as much as $20 billion a year in investment. The Fall Symposium is the perfect forum to discuss these issues and address the many possible solutions."

During the symposium, AWEA will also announce the winners of its prestigious awards including Supplier of the Year, State Leadership, Outstanding Technical Contribution, and Environmental Excellence. The symposium offers educational programming to give attendees a competitive edge to advance their organizations and careers, access to industry leaders in a relaxed environment, and professional development opportunities.

One indication of the caliber of executives and professionals attending: The Fall Symposium is one of the only events where all of AWEA’s committees and Board of Directors convene face-to-face. Networking opportunities at this year’s event include a WindPAC Reception, 6-Minute Idea Exchange, the AWEA Communicator’s Summit, and the annual AWEA Golf Tournament, which benefits the AWEA Educational Scholarship Fund.
