Wind power: Senvion already installed 6,000 wind turbines

Senvion appointed preferred supplier for 300 megawatts of wind power in Australia

Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, has been selected by Nexif Energy as preferred supplier of the EPC contracts and maintenance agreements for the 25-turbine Glen Innes Wind Farm in New South Wales and the 59-turbine Lincoln Gap Wind Farm in South Australia. Combined, these projects will deliver over 300 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy to Australian consumers.

Both wind farms will see the introduction of the new Senvion 3.6M140 turbine into the Australian market. The latest variant of the Senvion 3.XM platform was introduced at the WindEnergy Hamburg fair in September this year. Compared to its predecessor, the energy yield has been increased by up to 20 per cent at wind speeds of 7.5 m/s, and the lifetime has been extended by 25 per cent from 20 to 25 years. Improvements to the blades have resulted in lower sound in all operating modes.

Jürgen Geissinger, CEO of Senvion, said: “We are delighted to be working with Nexif Energy to introduce the 3.6M140 to the Australian market. With this announcement, we prove that we are well positioned to expand our activities in Australia and that this new upgraded variant to our product portfolio ensures we can offer our customers optimized solutions for a wide range of wind regimes.”

“We are looking forward to working with Senvion to progress the Glen Innes and Lincoln Gap Wind Farm projects,” said Matthew Bartley, Founder and Co-CEO of Nexif Energy. “Senvion’s advanced technology and engineering expertise make them the right partner for Nexif Energy to take these two projects forward.”

The preferred supplier agreement represents an important milestone in the progress towards final investment decisions which are expected to be made in 2017.
