Adwen begins the construction of its AD 8-180 prototype in Bremerhaven

Adwen has begun the civil works on the site where the first prototype of its AD 8-180 will be installed, in Bremerhaven. The main components of the wind turbine will arrive gradually until the installation starts in the fourth quarter of the year.

“It was extremely important for us to keep this project in Bremerhaven, close to our manufacturing facilities, our team of engineers and the unique Fraunhofer IWES test bench. The AD 8-180 is our product for the next years and installing the first prototype here proves that we have a lasting, long-term commitment to Bremerhaven where we have developed an extremely well regarded know-how and industrial base”, said Luis Alvarez, General Manager of Adwen.

Martin Günthner, Senator of Economics, Labour and Ports, is pleased about the start of construction works of the next-generation offshore wind turbine: “With Adwen’s commitment, state-of-the-art technology will be installed and tested in Bremerhaven. This shows the importance of Bremerhaven in Offshore industry”.
