The Universitat Jaume I participates in a project to reduce the cost of offshore wind energy in the North Sea

Researchers at the Universitat Jaume I (UJI) are participating from this year in the PROMOTioN European project that started last month of January.

Its main objective is to reduce substantially the costs of the windmill farms installed offshore. The Instituto de Automática e Informática Industrial (ai2 Institute) from the Polytechnic University of Valencia is leading the initiative. The technology that they are developing will reduce the size of electrical installations at sea up to 50%. This is the largest research project funded by the European Union in the field of marine wind energy, within the Horizon 2020 programme.
