Wind energy in Pakistan: 30 wind power projects to generate 1760 MW

As many as 30 wind farm power projects, that will generate 1760 MW electricity, are being perused by Alternative Energy Development Board, said Ministry of Water and Power on Sunday.

 

According to a statement the government is taking necessary measures for development of renewable energy and various projects are being implemented in collaboration of the private sector.

An investment of more than one billion dollars has been made in wind energy sector during the last two years, to build thirty wind power projects with 1760 MW capacity.

Another three wind power projects of 149.5 MW electricity have already achieved commercial operation and are supplying electricity to national grid.

Meanwhile in the solar energy sector, thirty-one projects with 999.6 MW capacity have been initiated.

Apart from this around 1500 to 2000 MW of biomass power is expected to be generated in the next three years.
