Solar energy plantation on 790 square kilometers can meet Turkey’s entire energy demand

It was highlighted that Turkey has 2,750 hours of sunshine per year on average and that solar energy potential is currently underutilized in Turkey.

 

The International Solar Energy Society’s Turkey head Gani Bayraktar said a solar energy plantation on 790 square kilometers can meet Turkey’s entire energy demand, and that current plantations can produce up to 71,430 megawatts. According to the press release from Bayraktar Sunday, Turkey’s solar energy potential is a total of 500,000 megawatts, surpassing other renewable energy resources.
