100 MW photovoltaic solar energy plant started in Rajasthan

Set up by Azure Power, this is the largest solar power plant in the state under ‘Make in India’ mission.

Sharing the solar power vision of the government, Raje said that the state will not only be independent in power generation but will become a surplus power state to the extent of 6,000 MW and will be able to sell to other states.

According to PTI, Raje said that the state government has signed MoUs for 34,000 MW solar power generation and soon it is going to set up a solar grid to harness this potential. Appreciating the pace of work by Azure Power in setting up and commissioning this plant, Raje called upon the company to set up a unit for manufacturing of solar panels here only so as to cut down the cost.

According to the CEO of Azure Power Inderpreet Wadhwa, this is the largest capacity project under the National Solar Mission – II with the cost of power brought down by almost 70 per cent from Rs 17.91 in 2009 to Rs 5.45 /KWhr. Later, Raje also laid the foundation stone for the new ISRO complex in Jodhpur.

This is the fourth such centre in the country, which till now had been functioning from the CAZRI premises. In her address, she said that there was a need of associating the students of school and colleges with this centre in order to spread their horizon.

“ISRO is an entity, which everyone needed to be acquainted with,” she said. Recalling her stint in the Space Department under the government of A B Vahpayee, Raje said that ISRO had played an important role in nation’s growth and development and this needed to be taken further for greater benefits of mankind. She said that the government is upgrading and digitalising the land records of the state.

“We are upgrading and digitalising the land records and would reach a stage in 3 years, where the villagers and farmers would not have to face any trouble,” Raje said. Raje also stressed the need of reviving the telemedicine sector and called upon the need of training to the youth of the state in this field, specially in ITIs. Set up in Jodhpur in 1987, this centre of ISRO has so far worked on 2800 projects.
