Nicaragua Plans 770 Megawatts in Renewable Energy Projects: Wind Power, Geothermal Energy and Solar Energy

The plan includes 300 megawatts of wind energy, 100 megawatts of geothermal, 100 megawatts of solar and 270 megawatts from two hydroelectric projects.

Nicaragua plans $4 billion of public and private-sector investment in renewable energy projects over the next 15 years to add 770 megawatts, Spanish news agency EFE reported.

More than 70 percent of Nicaragua’s energy generation comes from non-renewable sources, such as thermoelectric plants, according to the ministry’s website.
