Gamesa signs a new wind power order for 32MW in Finland

Gamesa makes progress in the framework agreement with TuuliWatti by signing a new order for 32 MW to outfit Tornio wind farm in Finland.

Gamesa strengthens its presence in the country, where it has landed the supply of the 4.5 MW platform in 2012.

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has strengthened its presence in northern Europe’s wind power industry and, specifically, in Finland.

The company has made progress in the framework agreement reached with the Finnish company TuuliWatti Oy, joint venture for a wind power joint venture between Finnish energy company St1 Ltd and national retail cooperative S-Group, by signing a new order for 32 MW.

The agreement calls for the delivery, installation and start-up of seven G128 turbines, each with capacity of 4.5 MW, at the Tornio wind farm in Finland. Gamesa will deliver the turbines in 2014.

This contract is included in the framework agreement signed in 2012 with TuuliWatti for delivering 135 MW to outfit four wind farms in the country: at the end of last year both companies signed an agreement to supply 18 MW of Gamesa 4.5 MW platform to the Simo wind farm and to perform operation and maintenance (O&M) services for 10 years, with an option to extend the contract for another five years; and a new order to deliver 54 MW to the Pori wind farm in 2013 and 2014. The Simo wind farm’s turbines will be the largest and highest-capacity turbines installed to date in Finland.

In the multi-megawatt sector, Gamesa continues to be a technology leader in the industry by developing the Gamesa 4.5 MW, the most powerful land-based platform on the market. The G128-4.5 MW turbines meet the competitiveness and cost of energy needs of even the most challenging wind farm sites. Its innovative modular design and technology ensure maximum reliability and compliance with the most exacting grid codes and stringent environmental requirements.
