Enel Green Power: three new wind farms enter service in Romania

With more than 206 MW of total installed capacity, the new wind farms will be able to generate around 560 million kWh per year once fully up and running Enel Green Power has therefore reached around 500 MW of wind power fully operational in Romania.

Enel Green Power (EGP) has connected to the grid three new wind farms – Elcomex EOL (Zephir I), Targusor (Zephir II) and Gebelesis — located in the Dobrogea region of Romania for a total installed capacity of 206 MW. Once fully operational, the new wind farms will be able to generate about 560 million kWh of energy each year.

The Elcomex EOL wind farm is comprised of fifty-two wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 120 MW. Once fully operational, the new wind farm will be able to generate around 340 million kWh of energy each year.

The Targusor wind farm is comprised of twenty-six wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 60 MW. Once fully operational, it will be able to generate more than 170 million kWh of energy per year.

The Gebelesis wind farm, in northern Dobrogea, is comprised of five wind turbines of 3 MW each and six wind turbines of 2 MW each for a total installed capacity of 27 MW. Once fully operational, it will be able to generate around 50 million kWh of energy each year.

A total of around 340 million euros was invested in constructing these wind farms, demonstrating Enel Green Power’s commitment to expanding renewable power generation in Romania.

In just two years, Enel Green Power has reached a total wind installed capacity in Romania of around 500 MW.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company fully dedicated to the development and management of renewable energy sources at the international level, with operations in Europe and the Americas. The company generated 22.5 billion kWh in 2011 from water, sun, wind and the Earth’s heat – enough to meet the energy needs of more than 8 million households and avoid the emission of over 16 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. Enel Green Power is a world leader in the sector thanks to its well-balanced generation mix, providing generation volumes well over the sector average. The Company has an installed capacity of over 7,800 MW from a mix of sources including wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass. Currently, Enel Green Power has over 700 operational plants in 16 countries in Europe and the Americas.
