Wind energy Gamesa sells a wind farm in Poland

Gamesa has a project portfolio of 677 MW at varying stages of development in Poland and 1,700 MW in Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania and Bulgaria)

Gamesa, a global leader in the design, manufacturing and maintenance of wind turbines and a top wind farm developer, has reached an agreement with Polish power company PGE Energia Odnawialna (PGE EO), the renewable arm of Polish biggest utility – PGE Group, to sell the Pelplin wind farm (combined installed capacity of 48 MW) in northern Poland’s Pomorskie region.

Gamesa’s wind farm development and sales division is currently building the site, which will be powered by 24 G90-2.0 MW turbines. Gamesa and PGE EO have agreed that Gamesa will deliver and transfer ownership of the wind farm in the first half of 2012, after construction is completed.
Growing presence in Eastern Europe

Gamesa’s wind farm division is particularly active in Eastern Europe, specifically in Poland, where the company has sold several projects in recent months. Gamesa’s portfolio in Poland totals 677 MW of wind farm projects at varying stages of development, 108 MW of which are under construction.

Gamesa also plans to break ground in 2011 on sites accounting for another 78 MW in Poland.

As for other Eastern European countries, including Romania and Bulgaria, the company’s project portfolio exceeds 1,000 MW.
